I was looking at my bookshelf last night and noticed a book called 365 Gifts for Every Special Occasion. Then I started thinking, Could we possibly think up 365 items to make from polymer clay as gifts? That will be my next challenge- note to self, create list of 365 gift ideas from polymer clay. You know, the best thing about polymer clay is that no matter what you make- whether it’s a candle holder, a pen, earrings, whatever- there are at least 10 different ways to make it. So you will never ever run out of ideas. This week we are going to talk about rubber stamps and texture sheets- but you are free to take the idea and run with it. Anything that can make an impression in clay is a possible texture tool. And after you texture the clay, there are several more things you can do to it. I just love to get ahead of myself, but I will practice restraint right now. Let’s say I can’t wait until the moment when we tell you to just go nuts and use every technique you’ve learned to do it your way.
A couple of quick gift ideas- how about a light switch plate cover as a housewarming gift? Or a decorated terra cotta pot with a little packet of basil seeds? Everyone needs a little fresh basil!
