If you’ve been reading our blog, you know that life kicked our behinds this week. It’s been a tough one for Ilysa, who’s father-in-law is having some health issues. She and her husband are sorting that all out, but it interrupted our filming schedule (we were supposed to film our next few videos last weekend.) We’ll get that done asap, but it does mean that our podcast and video for today and next week will be a little off the beaten path.
We did want to review Lisa’s video, which Page Sage was kind enough to give us copies of- and next month, one of our lucky newsletter subscribers is going to win one. It is an excellent, long video with more than six complete projects. My favorite was her use of rubber stamps and a technique sometimes called the “Sutton slice.” You can watch the video all the way thru, or stop and watch each project segment on it’s own. Be sure to visit PageSage.com to check out their other instructional videos.
Ilysa has been in contact with Barbara Reider, who is rallying polymer clay artists to the Bottles of Hope cause in her community. Even if you are a beginner, your bottle of hope and encouragement will be welcomed into the program- these are little medicine bottles covered in clay and given to Cancer patients as a gift. Bottles of Hope are never sold. If you are interested in donating your own bottles, you can send them to Barbara Reider- PO Box 143, N. Scituate, MA, 02060.
Each month, the PCAGOE has a polymer clay challenge. Members of the guild are challenged to create a piece based on a theme. Then the public comes and votes on their favorite- and two voters win prize packs full of goodies from our members. Make sure to bookmark the site and visit around the 26th of the month- that’s when we vote and pick winners.
We are not sure what next week’s video will be, we are considering showing you some of the great things you can do to polymer clay and discussing selling your work. Ilysa has covered almost everything with polymer clay, and has sold her polyclay art for over 18 years, so she knows how to get it done.

Kira and I have recorded Fridays Polymer Clay Podcast so we are on schedule for now. Thanks for the nice comments it is really appreciated. We picked our monthly winners and are trying to contact them but have been unsuccessful for one of the winners. Lila Tighfeld, if you can contact us with your snail mail address we will get your copy of Polymer Pizzazz in the mail. You can send us a note to: polymerclaypodcast@yahoo.com Every e-mail we have sent has come back to us. We have some more great prizes to give away so make sure to listen on Friday to see how you can win and don’t forget to sign up for the newsletter to automatically be entered into the monthly contest.
Kira and I have a lot of projects in the works and we talk about some of those on this Friday’s podcast. We would love to hear your thoughts on what you would like to see or hear on the show. You can always make a comment, give us a call or send us an e-mail, we love hearing from you. This months winner of the Polymer Clay Artists Guild of Etsy monthly challenge is Dawn from Hardflowerstudios. Make sure to check out Dawn’s amazing mosaic. This month the theme was to make something inspired by the ocean. There were some amazing entries so make sure to check them all out.
We will keep you posted on what we will be doing on next weeks Polymer Clay TV, as we are still working on it but we hope to stay on schedule. I have owned my own art gallery, participated in art shows for over 10 years, won numerous awards for my work, I have designed projects for companies, have had my work in books in magazines, and have my own instructional DVD. I was thinking that sometimes when you are getting started it is hard to know where to start so maybe we can have a discussion or videocast about that. There are so many facets of running a business and being a professional artist or crafter but having someone share what they have learned a long the way can make it easier. We would love to hear your comments if this is something your would be interested in learning more about. Thanks!

Hope everyone had a great long weekend. My weekend was very crazy, my father in law went in to emergency room on Friday night. He was hallucinating and his electrolytes were low and he was dehydrated. They say he is in the early stages of Alzheimers but today he didn’t even recognize my husband Ed who is his only child and who has been staying in the hospital with him. I am also going through this with my mom who is in the advanced stages of Alzheimers and is only 64 years old so I am recognizing all this behavior I have seen in mom. Needless to say we didn’t get to film this weekend as planned. My father in law lives about 6 hours away from us so I may have to travel in the upcoming days but I will try to keep the show as close to schedule as I can. This Friday is a new show of Polymer Clay Podcast and we will be doing something we haven’t done before and that is a review on an instructional polymer clay DVD. The DVD is from Page Sage and is hosted by Lisa Pavelka. Make sure to listen on Friday when we talk about it and give our review. We also have a copy to give away to one of our listeners and viewers. Make sure to listen on Friday to see how you can win a copy. Speaking of winners, this months winners are: Lila and Custumfuture
We will be contacting you so you can get your prizes. Do you want to automatically be entered to win some of the great prizes we have to give away, then Make sure to sign up for our newsletter.
Hope everyone has a creative week!
