Once again welcome to a new week. This past week we had visitors from all over the world and some places I have never even heard of. It is so great that even though we may be thousands of miles away we are all still connected. Until this past week I had never heard of the Territory of Wallis & Futura Islands or Noumea, New Caledonia which I have found out from my new map are located not far from Fiji and Vanuatu, which you might remember from one of the Survivor shows.  We also had some visitors from Hong Kong, Poland, Germany,France Sweden,Singapore,United Kingdom,Portugal,Spain, The Netherlands,Russia, Canada and the USA. I hope some of you will be attending the Synergy convention in Feb. and we will get to meet in person. We are planning a pajama party while we are there so make sure to look for us if you attend.

This week there will be a new episode of Polymer Clay TV, we will be demonstrating  working with molds. If you have wanted to work with molds and didn’t know where to start, you don’t want to miss this episode. Molds are easy to use and make and are a great addition when making jewelry or housewares. I have used molds for necklaces as well as for vases so they are quite versatile. Once you have molded a piece it is nice to embellish it and make it unique. Add some extra touches with powdered pigments, inks and paint to make it your own style. Cane slices are great to embellish your molded piece but don’t try to put the whole cane in the mold, it just won’t work and will leave you with something you probably don’t want. Take slices from the cane and add them or shape them into a complimentary design. Look in your old stash of vintage buttons and charms and you will finds some great things to mold. We also have some already made molds in our shop if you want some inspiration and some molds that will work well with polymer clay. Some molds require the use of a release agent, I recommend trying out your mold and seeing how well the clay releases from it. Silicone spray, water and cornstarch are our favorite choices for release agents. Play around and experiment to see what works best for you.

We have started a Call For Creativity and the entries are due October 28th, so make sure to get your entry posted in the forum to enter.  We thought it would be a great way to get inspired and get your creative juices flowing and also have a chance to win some great prizes. There is a link on the right side of the website that will take you to the forum so you can enter.  Have fun & good luck!

Here is a molded incense burner I made with a mold and have embellished.
