Holidays Are Right Around The Corner So Get Started Creating!
In the USA this is a busy time with everyone getting ready for the holidays and trying to accomplish all the tasks on their list but it is always nice to fit in some creative time and what better way to get motivated knowing you are making the perfect gift for a friend, co worker or family member. Ornaments make great gifts and are easy to make. I have made them for years and they are always appreciated. Try making some this year out of polymer clay, it is so much fun to just go crazy. This is the perfect kind of project to pull out that glitter, powdered pigments and embossing powder and just go for it! I have created stars, gingerbread men, dove, candy canes, angel ornaments and so much more. You can also cover one of those glass ball ornaments or shaped glass ones. Just bake the polymer clay right on the glass ornament. If you just cover certain areas of the glass ornament with polymer clay it is best to pull the clay off after baking and glue it back on but if you cover the whole glass ornament you should have no problems with it coming off. This year I am really looking forward to creating some unique ornaments since I am doing a swap with some of the members of the Polymer Clay Artists Guild of Etsy. I am swapping 5 ornaments with 5 different members and I can’t wait to see what they come up with. I will make sure to post the photos when I receive mine so you can see what they create. We have some copies of the new magazine from Kalmbach Publishing called Make It Mine and I love it! Big thumbs up on this one, not only did it have several polymer clay tutorials but it was packed with other goodies that were very inspiring. If you haven’t picked up a copy, I would definitely recommend it. We have some copies to give away to our listeners and viewers so make sure to sign up for our newsletter to be automatically entered to win. You can also leave a comment on this site and we will enter you as well. We also have our Call For Creativity challenge going on and I would love to see some more entries. This month we want you to get inspired with composition leaf, check out the forum post to see what some of the other entries have made and post your own. Good luck!
Don’t forget to come back on Friday to listen to Polymer Clay Podcast, this week we have a great interview with Judy Belcher who was so much fun to talk with and we also have a copy of her book and DVD to give away so make sure to listen to see how you can be a lucky winner. We also recorded another interview last night and I think you will enjoy seeing a different side to the business of cane making so stay tuned for that as well. Enjoy!
