Well it is almost a new year and I can’t believe how fast this year went by. On December 26th of 2006 I started the PCAGOE and we just had our first anniversary just the other day. On June 1st of 2007 we launched Polymer Clay Productions, boy time flies when you are having fun. It has been a blast sharing and getting to know everyone and I am really looking forward to the new year. This new year is going to be packed with fun things and we plan on sharing them all with you.  We are starting off the new year with a new theme for the Call For Creativity and the theme for January will be to create something using the color purple. Purple is such a great color and its also my birthstone color amethyst. Just be creative with it and upload a photo of your entry to our forum by January 28th 2008 to enter. We will be giving away some great gifts so don’t delay, get creating!

The winner of the last Call For Creativity is Naama and Naama is from Israel and has a beautiful style to her work, I look forward to seeing more from her. Congrats! This month we will be having a poll built into our forum for the challenge, which will make everything easier with it all in one place. There is a link to the forum on the right side bar of this site.

Polymer Clay Classroom is now live and you can always go there to find our complete project downloads that you can subscribe to for a small fee. Polymer Clay Classroom is different than Polymer Clay TV & Polymer Clay Podcast, which are always free to watch, listen, learn and subscribe. Polymer Clay Classroom videos teach you a complete project using the technique from start to finish. These videos are available in our shop or at the Polymer Clay Classroom website. These videos give you fast access to learning the projects, you don’t have to wait for them to arrive in the mail, you can get them in just minutes on your own computer. If you purchase a 6 month or year subscription you will get access to our full library of shows as well as the rest of your subscription period. If you don’t have classes in your area or you just want to learn certain techniques than Polymer Clay Classroom would be a great place to get started.

This Friday on Polymer Clay TV we show ways to cover scrap clay with cane slices. This is a great technique for making beads, incense burners, fan pulls and so much more. There is no waste with polymer clay as you can use your scraps and cover them to create something really nice. In this weeks Polymer Clay Classroom we will show how to create a reduced swirl cane and how to apply that cane to create your own ceiling fan pull or light pull. You won’t want to miss this show if you ever wanted to know what to do with scrap clay.

We at Polymer Clay Productions want to wish you a happy healthy creative year!!!

I promised links to Maggie and Lindly’s blogs- here they are. Please enjoy the wonderful and fun color explorations they have. Sometimes all you need to spark your creativity is a path- and color can provide it. And consider joining us in January’s Call for Creativity- featuring the color purple. All you have to do is upload pictures into the forum post for this month.

Polymer Clay Podcast # 24- making a fan pull, or covering scrap clay with cane slices

We’ll talk about the topic at the end- basically, if you have a lump of scrap clay and you would like to make something out of it, covering it with thin slices of canework is a great way to transform it. We show you how to make a skinner blended bullseye cane and then cover clay, embed a chain, and create a fan pull in polymerclayclassroom next week- in our demo, you will see how to cover your scrap clay with cane slices and smooth and shape it.

As you might have read last week, Polyform has told us that Studio by Sculpey clay is going to be $2.99 per 2.8 ounce brick. This was confirmed when I went to www.munrocrafts.com today to buy something else- they will be selling the new clay.

Next month we are going to the big CHA show in California, where we will be filming the Spring contest for Bottles of Hope. Amaco and Staedler are teaming up this year to hold the Awards ceremony.

Belle Armoire’s Jan/Feb Issue has a great polymer clay tube bead bracelet project, by Linda Hess, using the Makin’s Extruder to make colorful faux-bullseye canes. Unfortunately, through some kind of mistake, the directions printed for finishing the bracelet don’t go with the one pictured. Hopefully they will be able to rectify the situation in a future issue or on their website, but if you are confused after reading it, that is why. I couldn’t find a website for Linda, but her email is on polymerclaycentral.com as polymercreations@aol.com, if you want to contact her maybe she can give you directions for finishing her lovely bracelet.

I promised links to Maggie and Lindly’s blogs- but right now I am having server issues and can’t search for them. I will do it over the weekend and you must promise yourself to come back and check them out. They will really inspire you to play with color. Speaking of which, why not answer our Call for Creativity in January? Simply make something purple out of polymer clay, and load it into our forum. We will invite voters and pick our favorite at the end of the month and give out a prize as a thank you gift for participating.

If you enjoy the show, which we produce right now in our “spare time” and at our cost, why not consider supporting us in one of the many ways we have outline on our Support our Show page? We appreciate all of you! Have a great New Year!

This Friday we will have a new episode of Polymer Clay Podcast. We will be talking about creating your own ceiling fan or light pulls. These can be made out of solid polymer clay and will be quite durable. Fan pulls were one of my all time best sellers at the art shows and they are easy to make. Once you start making them, all of your friends and family will want some too, I know this from experience. LOL You can make them in a variety of shapes and sizes to fit any decor. Join us on Friday as we share some ideas for creating your own. We have some news to share as well as a review this week and of course we will have some goodies to give away. I received a few more ornaments from the swap I did with the PCAGOE and will share some photos as soon as I can get some taken. You can check out last Friday’s Polymer Clay TV to get some last minute ideas for your own holiday ornaments.
