Polymer Clay Podcast- about making ornaments, Studio by Sculpey clay

Posted by Kira on 14 Dec 2007 | Tagged as: , Podcasts

Ornament making can be great fun- to do with your family, for your family as gifts, to create gift tags for presents, or for you to just make a pretty bauble to hang in your space. When I had a kitchen window (sadly I don’t now because I have gone back to apartment life for a while) I used to hang ornaments I liked in the window so I would see them often. You can cover traditional glass balls with clay, or you can make ornaments entirely from clay. Be sure to come back next week for our video demo.

We also discussed Donna Kato’s book - My favorite things in polymer clay - given to us by Design Originals. It’s a great book and worth the read.

And, we talk about the new Studio by Sculpey clay. Jane Zhao is my area’s regional trainer, and she met with some of us who are interested in talking about the clay last Saturday at Michaels. Also, strangely, Michael’s stores won’t be carrying it! But Joann’s and AC Moore will have it, if all remains on schedule, in January. It was a frustrating discussion- not because of Jane, who is wonderful, but because Sculpey won’t let the trainers talk about anything. Everything is a secret- the projects, the tools, and the price. Oh well, I guess we’ll all have to wait. Which I don’t like to do!

Enjoy, and come back next week to watch the video on making ornaments.
