Polymer Clay Productions has created an online community

See that little link on the sidebar that says Join our Community? This is called a flux site- it’s a little like myspace, flickr, facebook and all the other places where you can load photos, have friends, join groups, and have discussions. We thought it would be great to start our own community. Unfortunately- flux is still in beta, which means it has a lot of bugs. For example, I can’t get my pretty formatting to stick. The pictures I just loaded are no longer there…eek. I say, if you are interested in this kind of thing, and even if you’re not sure, give it a shot! Once flux gets out of beta testing, I think it will be awesome. If you’re interested in what it’s all about, check out www.flux.com.

We have a bunch of fun things planned for 2008 and we wanted to share some of the events we will be attending as well as some of the things we have planned. We are planning some new interviews for your listening pleasure as well as new projects for Polymer Clay TV, next week we will show you some of the ornaments we have made and the first show in January will be on creating ceiling fan or light pull chains. They are fun and easy to make so stay tuned for that. We will be attending the big craft trade show CHA in Anaheim, California, Craft & Hobby Assoc. Feb. 10-13 and will have lots of footage and interviews as well as sharing some of the latest products on the market with you. Then the following week we will be attending the Synergy conference in Maryland Feb 21-24. Then March 13-17 is the Orlando Clay Fandango retreat in Orlando, FL and we will be covering it and sharing lots of footage and stories, I am sure. Here are some photos of last years retreat. There are still a few spaces left to attend the retreat so make sure to add the retreat to your holiday wish list, it sounds like a lot of fun! We are also planning an interview with the chairs of the event Nita Jepson and Rhonda Colcord so stay tuned for when they share more about the event.

This month has been a busy one and Kira and I are trying to keep up with everything. Our newsletter will be out in the next day or so, it is a little late but worth waiting for. We had a poll on our website asking about paid content a while back and a lot of you said that you would like to try it out first. Well this is your opportunity. If you haven’t signed up for our newsletter, now is the time. We will be sending out a link in the newsletter this month with a link to watch one of our paid programs for FREE. This will give you an opportunity to see what we do on Polymer Clay Classroom our full length downloadable project videocasts that are available in our shop. Since a large portion of you who answered our poll said you wanted to try it first we thought this would be the perfect way to sample it. We hope you enjoy the show and consider one of our subscription plans. Even if you just see one show you want to check out, we offer that in our shop as well. We will also have a valuable coupon in the newsletter so look for that as well as a great pecan sandie recipe I tried out and loved! We will also be including some photos of this months Call For Creativity and a chance to vote for your favorite.

If you are looking for some info on marketing your business, I found this great new podcast by a woman named Crissy and you can check out the podcast at her website or on Itunes http://www.indiebizchicks.com

Crissy has a great tag line, Business, marketing & publicity info for women who’d rather work for themselves, thank work for the man. I love that, I knew that I always wanted to work for myself and not for “the Man”. Crissy gives some great tips to get you started. If you are an entrepenuer or if you just have a small indie business, you won’t want to miss Crissy’s podcast. I think there is a new show every Friday, so you can download her show as well as ours at the same time. Enjoy!

In case you haven’t noticed we have a new ad on the right hand side bar of the website for Marcia’s Passion, Marcia Palmer is a very talented artist and you will want to check out her unique artwork so just click on the ad and it will take you to her fun etsy shop.

Make sure to check back Friday for Polymer Clay Podcast, we have a book review and some news to share that you won’t want to miss.

Enjoy your video this week, where we show you what it was like to visit the festival in Orlando. Lots of fun- and Sparkle n’ Sprinkle was definately my favorite booth. Although I liked the rubber stamps I saw, at a company called Inque Designs, too.
