We have just launched our own social network and we would love for you to join us. The Flux community that some of you joined on our sidebar just wasn’t doing what we wanted so we decided to try something else and it is awesome! We hope that those of you that signed up for Flux will also sign up for this one. It is free to sign-up and participate. You can add photos, videos comments and more. It is going to be great getting to know our listeners and viewers and we really look forward to it. It will also be a great way for all of us to communicate and share. Kira and I have already uploaded some photos for you to check out and we hope you will add your own.
Tomorrow we have a new episode of Polymer Clay Podcast. We have some new things to share and some great goodies to give away. We also do a book review and share the topic of the week and have an interview with Nita from the Orlando Clay Fandango, so you won’t want to miss it. Enjoy!

I wanted to share with you an article about the upcoming Synergy conference that was on the National Polymer Clay Guilds website. It gives you a great overview of some of the things they have planned. Kira and I are really looking forward to attending and covering the event. We hope to get to meet some of our listeners and viewers, so if you are going, let us know and we would love to meet up.
Synergy Polymer Clay Conference:
With over fifty 90-minute lecture/demo sessions to choose from and four guest speakers, the Synergy Conference promises to have something for everyone. But wait, there’s even more. Two panel discussions and a very special interactive session will offer unique opportunities for sharing ideas between Synergy attendees. On Thursday, February 21, Jeffrey Dever will host and moderate the Hallmarks of Craftsmanship panel discussion. The panel, which will include Sarah Shriver, Allison Lee, Donna Kato and Rachel Carren, will look at important questions facing polymer artist today. What are the standards of craftsmanship and who decides? How do we set benchmarks without a historic past? How does craftsmanship affect acceptance of our medium? Then, on Friday, February 22, Jeffrey Dever will be joined by Elise Winters, Dan Cormier and Thomas Mann as they delve into questions of Inspiration, Originality and Infringement. Where do artists get their ideas from? How do they develop work unique to themselves? How do they share their work and still protect their ideas? Where is the line between acceptable influence and infringement? These two sessions will offer lively and timely discussions of major issues facing polymer artists today. Finally on Saturday, February 23, The Synergy Conference will host one of the leading studio jewelry authors and educators, Tim McCreight. Tim will lead Synergy attendees through the interactive discussion Design Decisions: Good, Better, Best, a playful exploration of the design process that promises a few surprises. And the best part of all three of these sessions? They’re free for all Synergy attendees.
Sounds fun, we hope to see you there!

Well we had planned to film this past weekend but there was a cold front moving through and violent storms were expected. We often lose power up here because there are so many trees. We decided it would be best not to chance it and have Kira drive in the rain. We are back on for filming this weekend.
This weeks topic is ACEO’s and ATC’s out of polymer clay and air dry polymer clay. We will share the different aspects of each and talk about upcoming projects. We also have a book review and some news to share as well as an interview with Nita Jepson of the Orlando Area Polymer Clay Guild. Nita shares some of the things that are planned for the upcoming Orlando Clay Fandango.
I got my hands on some small bottles that are perfect for making Bottles of Hope. I have some extras that I want to share with anyone who needs them. If you would like to make some BOH, please send me an e-mail at polymerclaypodcast@yahoo.com
Include your address and how many bottles you would like to make. There is a limited amount so if you would like some it is on a first come first serve basis, so don’t delay in contacting me. All I ask is that you send them back to us to distribute. You can mail them to us at:
Polymer Clay Productions BOH
P.O. Box 1527
Branford,FL 32008
There is still time to get your Call For Creativity entry in, the deadline to enter is January 28th, 2008. All you have to do is create something out of polymer clay using the color purple and upload it to our forum post for the CFC. We have some great entries already and we can’t wait to see yours!
If you haven’t checked out Polymer Clay Classroom yet, we have added a button to the sidebar to make it easier to find.

As I had mentioned earlier in the week, we had scheduled filming for this weekend. Unfortunately a strong cold front was coming through yesterday and we did not want to risk the loss of power nor did we want Kira driving in the torrential rain. So the new plan is to film this coming weekend. When we get together we usually film 6 episodes of Polymer Clay TV and 6 episodes of Polymer Clay Classroom, but this time it will be a little different. Since we are covering CHA and Synergy in the upcoming month, we will be sharing footage from the events on Polymer Clay TV, so naturally we don’t need as many episodes of Polymer Clay TV since they will be shot on location.
We have interviews lined up for both events with some really talented artists and we will also be covering the Bottle of Hope awards in Amaco’s booth. Since we won’t need as many episodes of PCTV we have decided to film some extra episodes as well as all the Polymer Clay Classrooms. We have taken all of your suggestions into consideration and are planning shows based on what you want to see. This time we have an episode on transfers, which was a technique requested quite often. We will be showing more canes as well as a variety of techniques. Kira and I thought it was necessary to start at the beginning with these lessons, so anyone who had never used the clay had a starting point. I have taught classes on polymer clay for many years and these are some of the things I teach in my class. I feel there is always something to learn from someone because everyone does things different. We hope to bring some of the things we learn back to share with you, so stay tuned for that.
Don’t forget that Polymer Clay Classroom is now open so you can check out all of our full length projects there.
