Polymer Clay TV & Classroom Tomorrow PCAGOE Challenge Winner & Amaco Designer Challenge
Tomorrow we have a new episode of Polymer Clay TV & Polymer Clay Classroom. The topic this week in covering metal tins and it is a fun and easy project. You can cover any solid metal tin and you can recycle Altoid tins and other similar tins.
This months PCAGOE challenge winner was Iris Mishly who is a very talented Israeli artist. The theme this month was summer and Iris did a great job with her fun and colorful flip flop sandal charms. Check out Iris’s shop for more of her beautiful work. We got to meet Iris at Synergy and she is such a great lady. I have noticed that a lot of Israeli artists use bold bright colors and I just love it! I am all about color and I love to see so many people using it so well.
I received an e-mail from Amaco and they are not planning on being at CHA this time around as they feel it is too much of a scrapbooking show. They have decided to have an online even featuring Friendly Plastic. Here are all the details.

SUMMER 2008 DESIGNERS CHALLENGE Deadline July 10, 2008 |
AMACO® is sponsoring an on-line jewelry and papercraft challenge this summer to reintroduce you to the 80′s retro modeling medium Friendly Plastic®. Because it’s inexpensive, colorful, easy-to-use, and addictive, we thought the summer of near-recession would be a good time for designers to have fun with a new/old friend like Friendly Plastic®, made by AMACO®. Because we have been donating entries to deserving charities, the trend will continue with all entries donated. See entry form for details
This Challenge is an on-line event only but the prizes are similar to past events. AMACO® will not be exhibiting at CHA-Summer 2008 because the show is primarily scrapbooking and we are a general crafts company. We want to stay touch with you, so we planned an on-line summer event!
Friendly Plastic® softens easily in hot water, with a heat gun or craft oven and can be molded, marbled, textured or twisted! The possibilities are endless. To help you get started, please visit our on-line Craft Library for tips and techniques. We will be updating projects all summer.
The theme is “Cheap & Wonderful Holidays”– and the holidays are “Autumn Colors”, “Winter Holidays”, and “Valentine’s”. The requirements are simple but challenging! Each Friendly Plastic® entry must be comprised of a coordinated jewelry and paper craft. For example, a jewelry set (with a minimum of 2 pieces) must be accompanied by a complementing gift or greeting card, invitation, announcement or other original papercraft. The challenge is to create a craft duo that showcases Friendly Plastic® as a medium for jewelry and paper. All past AMACO® Designer Challenge winners are eligible to win.
Entries will be judged on originality and execution with awards given for: Best of Show, Best Use of Friendly Plastic, Best Autumn Theme, Best Winter Theme, and Best Valentine Theme. Winners will be announced August 1st, 2008.
Winners will receive enough Friendly Plastic®, tools and mixed media materials to host their own craft party for 8. Photos of the parties will be featured in special edition e-blasts to other designers and editors to showcase the evolution of new and
original designs. (Winners are not obligated to hold craft parties). Winners will also receive an etched crystal award, $100 personal check and a matching $100 check made payable to their favorite charities, plus publication in the AMACO® Craft Library.
The only place to choose from all 34 colors of Friendly Plastic is at amaco.com. All entrants will receive free Friendly Plastic® designer sticks to replenish your stash as our appreciation for your participation! To help with projects, AMACO also makes modeling tools such as, the Marbling Comb, Friller Tool, Needle Tool, Work Mat, Beadmaking Tool Set and PolyCutters, available in craft stores and on-line at amaco.com. Here is a link to the entry form.
