We have a slight change to the video format this week, I had to go it alone- but we think it works. I couldn’t change the background color in my imovie (it’s black) I’m a new-ish mac user, can someone tell me how to make it a pretty color? Anyway!

We talked about amazing mold putty last week, and here you can see it in action. I molded a rubber stamp, and also show what happens when you mold a brass filigree. Brass is hot, hot, hot right now, and this can take it even further. Mold some and see what happens! And be sure to check out Polymer Clay Classroom to see me do some fabulous Faux Faience pendants. A very convincing faux effect, and a neat way to use your favorite brass pieces.

Tomorrow morning I will be heading to Chicago to attend the Craft & Hobby Assoc. show http://www.hobby.orgĀ  and I will be meeting a fellow PCAGOE member http://www.pcagoe.comĀ  there who will be helping me out at the show. It will be the first time Wendy and I have met in person and it will be a lot of fun. I have a meeting with Staedtler planned for Saturday and we will be discussing the Bottle of Hope challenge. I will keep you posted on what I find out. We will also be attending some other events and will get to see the newest products and will also get to try them out. Fun!

This week Kira will be showing you how to use the Amazing Mold Putty. http://polymerclayproductions.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10&products_id=68

and you are going to love this product. It is so easy and sets up so fast! Make sure to come back tomorrow to watch and learn.

I will be spending the rest of the day with my printer getting our press info printed up. See you when I return on Monday.

It is hard to believe that on Friday I am off to the Craft & Hobby Association Show http://www.hobby.org in Chicago again, it seemed like I was just there. I love attending the show and getting to see all the new and exciting products and I am sure there will be plenty to share with you when I return. I am really looking forward to meeting a fellow PCAGOE http://www.pcagoe.com member as Wendy of http://www.claycrazy.etsy.com will be attending the show and helping me out. We have never met in person only through the PCAGOE and it should be a lot of fun.

This week on Polymer Clay TV, Kira will be showing the Amazing Mold putty and how to work with it. I think you will fall in love with this product as much as we did and you will find yourself molding everything in sight.LOL It is a non toxic product and can even be used to mold food. You can also bake the putty in the oven when you are curing your polymer clay pieces, that way you can avoid any distortion. So cool!

If anyone is attending the CHA show, please send me an e-mail at polymerclaypodcast@yahoo.com I would love to meet up if you are attending. I spent the morning gluing 150+ magnets in preparation for the show. We are doing some press kits and are working on getting sponsors for the show, so it should be a busy but fun show. I will keep you posted.

This week, Kira is in NY at her sister’s wedding… and Ilysa is preparing for a trip to CHA next weekend. We talked about a fantastic new product we found for making molds and textures. It’s silicone based, and you just have to push it onto whatever you are molding. No release is required, and the mold putty sticks to itself- so if you don’t make the mold perfect the first time, you can add a little and make it perfect. You can also bake your clay right in the mold! That makes it easy to use your liquid clay in the mold and also helps when you have a delicate mold, so you bake your piece in the mold and then pop it out- no distortion. Be sure to come back next Friday, to see a demo of how Amazing Mold Putty works with your polymer clay.

I am hoping to play catch up today as I have been away from my computer most of this week. Tomorrow we have a new episode of Polymer Clay Podcast and our topic is the Amazing Mold Putty. This is the coolest product and I have to say it is my newest addiction besides silkscreening. I am molding everything I can get my hands on but mostly I have been molding my mothers cameo collection that is quite extensive. I think I have molded at least a dozen different cameos already and there are tons more. I will be adding them to our shop as soon as I can but you can make your own molds with this great product.

My mother was a big collector of beads and jewelry and was always on the hunt for new cameos which were her favorite. My mother had a thing for the hand carved cameos that were carved on real shells and shell pieces. One of the cameos I molded had a price tag still on it for $145.00, so I know that it was a one of a kind, it is so unique. It is amazing to see how many different styles they were made in and they were put into some really unusual settings too. If you like cameos stay tuned for those.

Next week I am heading to Chicago to attend the Craft & Hobby Assoc. show and Kira will be releasing a new episode of Polymer Clay TV and she will be showing you how to use the Amazing Mold Putty, so you won’t want to miss that. It is very easy to use and there is no mess and the amazing thing is in just minutes you have a finely detailed mold. This product picks up every little line and you get the crispest mold ever. Have fun creating!
