This week on Polymer Clay podcast we will be airing an interview we did with Patricia Rose. http://www.patriciarosestudio.com Patricia is an amazingly talented artist. I am amazed every time I visit her website and see her new creations. Her sculptures are so detailed and life like that you get caught up in the moment and can imagine yourself or someone you know in each doll. Patricia has a really unique story of how she got started in her artistic journey and you won’t want to miss hearing about it, so tune in Friday for the interview.

We will also be discussing the Polymer Clay Holiday Gift Guide that I have been working on. Next week we will be airing the gift guide on Polymer Clay TV. The weather is just starting to turn colder here in the northern part of Florida and it has definitely got me in the mood for the upcoming holidays. This year why not buy handmade and especially polymer clay items. You will be amazed by all of the submissions we received for the gift guide. There are so many talented artists and what better gift to give someone is something handmade especially for them. Make sure to tune in next week to Polymer Clay TV to see how you can win some of the handmade goodies from the gift guide. Hope everyone has a creative week! Now get started crafting!

We talked with Patricia Rose, figure sculptor

I’ve been interested in figure sculpting (fairies, pretty ladies, tiny sculpts) for quite some time, and I follow a few of my favorite artists websites and ebay listings to see what they’ve got that’s new. And I was pleasantly surprised to find that Patricia lives in Florida- so we contacted her to see if she would be interested in talking about her artwork and she said yes! So a few days ago, we had a lovely conversation and she told us about how she got started, and you’ll be able to hear that conversation when we air it (planned date- October 31st.)

A link to Patricia’s site has been place on the Tutorials page of the site. She is a talented sculptor and has shared many step-by-step illustrations of her process for sculpting the whole figure. She also sells DVDs intended to teach you how to sculpt small figures from beginning to end, and push molds if you would like a little help getting your proportions right. Be sure to check out her site, and stay tuned for the interview!

This week, we’ll talk about two more men we met in Baltimore this past February- one at Synergy, and the other at the ACC show. Two very different styles which you’ll see next week on polymer clay tv.

We also talk about Kalmbach’s new book, Bead Journey: Jewelry from around the world. We loved this book, and there are lots of ethnic-style ideas that could be easily translated into polymer clay beads, especially for the large gemstone and wood beads featured.
