This Saturday we are off to CHA in California and we won’t be back until late on Feb. 13th, so all orders placed between Feb.9th and Feb. 13th will be processed when we return. Thank you for your patience.

We will return with a ton of footage, products, magazines and a bunch of new friends. I am really looking forward to it, even though I hate traveling, I always enjoy going to these trade shows. It is rows and rows full of thousands of craft products, believe me I feel like a kid in a candy store. It is definitely overwhelming as this show has about 3000 booths and tons of classes and events. We have a ton of things scheduled while we are there, including filming the Bottle of Hope award ceremony which we will share with you on Polymer Clay TV when we return. We are going to also try to head over and catch Carol Duvall speak at the Page Sage booth, she has a video coming out with them and a few other artists, including Judy Belcher. We have an interview lined up with several artists and will be meeting up with many others that I am sure will be there. Needless to say CHA is not a place to break in new shoes. So I have decided I have to wear my scrubbie sneakers or risk the threat of blisters. So if you see me in my scrubbie sneakers, you will know that it is because I am trying to avoid blistered feet.LOL  I wanted to go out and get a new pair but thought better of it and will just get some new ones when I return home. They should be ready for the next CHA. LOL

Hope to see you there. If you are going  and would like to meet up, send us an e-mail and we will give you our cell phone number and hopefully we can meet up.

Come on back on Friday for a new episode of Polymer Clay Podcast.

Polymer Clay Productions Is Going On The Road

Posted by Ilysa on 30 Jan 2008 | Tagged as: Bottles of Hope

Time flies when you are having fun and we have been having lots of fun at Polymer Clay Productions. We are getting geared up for a busy February and March, when we will be taking the show on the road. We will be traveling to California to attend the Craft & Hobby Assoc. show next week and have a ton of interviews and goodies planned. We will also be filming the Bottle of Hope awards in the Amaco booth, so that should be a lot of fun and we will have tons of video to share with you. We are meeting some online friends, connecting with other polymer clay artists and so much more. It will be 4 jam packed days of crafting goodness. We will try to sit in on some of the make and takes and other tutorials, so you can get a sneak peek.

We will also be filming Polyforms booth and I am sure they will have some of their projects made with the Studio by Sculpey clay on display and we will get them on film to share with you.

The following week we head to Maryland to film the Synergy show and the American Craft Council show. We will be doing interviews there as well and I am working on setting up a few more today for while we are there so I am expecting our time to be jam packed there too. LOL I have to say that I am very excited to get to meet all these wonderful artists in person and I am sure we will meet lots of new friends.

If you are attending any of these shows, we would love to meet up with our listeners and viewers, so send us an e-mail or give us a call and we can arrange to meet. Hope to see you there!

Polymer Clay Podcast This Friday Bottle of Hope Bottles Available

Posted by Ilysa on 21 Jan 2008 | Tagged as: Bottles of Hope

Well we had planned to film this past weekend but there was a cold front moving through and violent storms were expected. We often lose power up here because there are so many trees. We decided it would be best not to chance it and have Kira drive in the rain. We are back on for filming this weekend.

This weeks topic is ACEO’s and ATC’s out of polymer clay and air dry polymer clay. We will share the different aspects of each and talk about upcoming projects. We also have a book review and some news to share as well as an interview with Nita Jepson of the Orlando Area Polymer Clay Guild. Nita shares some of the things that are planned for the upcoming Orlando Clay Fandango.

I got my hands on some small bottles that are perfect for making Bottles of Hope. I have some extras that I want to share with anyone who needs them. If you would like to make some BOH, please send me an e-mail at polymerclaypodcast@yahoo.com

Include your address and how many bottles you would like to make. There is a limited amount so if you would like some it is on a first come first serve basis, so don’t delay in contacting me. All I ask is that you send them back to us to distribute. You can mail them to us at:

Polymer Clay Productions BOH

P.O. Box 1527

Branford,FL 32008

There is still time to get your Call For Creativity entry in, the deadline to enter is January 28th, 2008. All you have to do is create something out of polymer clay using the color purple and upload it to our forum post for the CFC. We have some great entries already and we can’t wait to see yours!

If you haven’t checked out Polymer Clay Classroom yet, we have added a button to the sidebar to make it easier to find.

Polymer Clay Podcast # 13- making a fan pull, or covering scrap clay with cane slices

Posted by Kira on 28 Dec 2007 | Tagged as: Bottles of Hope, CHA, Podcasts, events

We’ll talk about the topic at the end- basically, if you have a lump of scrap clay and you would like to make something out of it, covering it with thin slices of canework is a great way to transform it. We show you how to make a skinner blended bullseye cane and then cover clay, embed a chain, and create a fan pull in polymerclayclassroom next week- in our demo, you will see how to cover your scrap clay with cane slices and smooth and shape it.

As you might have read last week, Polyform has told us that Studio by Sculpey clay is going to be $2.99 per 2.8 ounce brick. This was confirmed when I went to www.munrocrafts.com today to buy something else- they will be selling the new clay.

Next month we are going to the big CHA show in California, where we will be filming the Spring contest for Bottles of Hope. Amaco and Staedler are teaming up this year to hold the Awards ceremony.

Belle Armoire’s Jan/Feb Issue has a great polymer clay tube bead bracelet project, by Linda Hess, using the Makin’s Extruder to make colorful faux-bullseye canes. Unfortunately, through some kind of mistake, the directions printed for finishing the bracelet don’t go with the one pictured. Hopefully they will be able to rectify the situation in a future issue or on their website, but if you are confused after reading it, that is why. I couldn’t find a website for Linda, but her email is on polymerclaycentral.com as polymercreations@aol.com, if you want to contact her maybe she can give you directions for finishing her lovely bracelet.

I promised links to Maggie and Lindly’s blogs- but right now I am having server issues and can’t search for them. I will do it over the weekend and you must promise yourself to come back and check them out. They will really inspire you to play with color. Speaking of which, why not answer our Call for Creativity in January? Simply make something purple out of polymer clay, and load it into our forum. We will invite voters and pick our favorite at the end of the month and give out a prize as a thank you gift for participating.

If you enjoy the show, which we produce right now in our “spare time” and at our cost, why not consider supporting us in one of the many ways we have outline on our Support our Show page? We appreciate all of you! Have a great New Year!

New Episode of Polymer Clay TV & Polymer Clay Classroom, Looking For Salesperson & BOH Awards Are A Go

Posted by Ilysa on 17 Dec 2007 | Tagged as: Bottles of Hope

Hope everyone had a nice weekend! This Friday we have a new episode of Polymer Clay TV and a new episode of Polymer Clay Classroom which can be found in our shop. This week I will be sharing a variety of ornaments that I have made over the years. There are a variety of techniques that I think add a lot to your ornaments so tune in to see some of my favorites. Ornaments can be made for a variety of holidays and they work great as hang tags for packages or just hanging over your kitchen sink. They don’t have to be just Christmas themed, why not make some hearts for Valentines Day or some shaped like four leaf clovers for St. Patricks Day, just improvise and have fun. I have made ornaments to just hang around the house and to give as gifts and they are always appreciated. It doesn’t take long to make some really cool ornaments, so why not give it a try.
We have decided to step it up a notch and get in gear for the new year. We are looking for a salesperson to help us sell sponsorships and ads for the website and shows. We are looking for someone who enjoys selling and wants a flexible stay at home opportunity. This position can be done at home on the computer or phone and you can make your own hours. If this sounds like something for you, please send us an e-mail to : polymerclaypodcast@yahoo.com We will contact you back to discuss the position. We look forward to hearing from you.

I found out some info recently, which I am happy to share and that is that Amaco & Staedtler have joined forces to bring the Bottle Of Hope award ceremony to the Craft & Hobby Association show in Feb. in Anaheim, CA. If you check out Amaco’s website there are more details about it. I am glad they have decided to continue their support of this great program. We hope to bring you some footage from this years award ceremony at CHA.

Send In Your Bottles Of Hope & Make Someone Smile!

Posted by Ilysa on 30 Oct 2007 | Tagged as: Bottles of Hope, Uncategorized

Most of you probably have been touched by cancer sometime in your life, maybe with a family member, friend, co worker or even yourself. It is a horrible disease for someone to go through. The Bottles of Hope program is a way for polymer clay artists and others to create a bottle to be given to a cancer patient. There is no skill level required, just the desire to do something nice for someone else. I have been in touch with a woman named Barbara Reider and she is organizing bottles to be given to the patients at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Massachusetts. If you have been wanting to get involved with this great program, now is the time. Here is the info where you can send your Bottles of Hope:

Barbara Reider PO Box 143, N. Scituate, MA, 02060

Barbara is also looking for people who want to help out with a workshop/class at Dana Farber. If you are interested in helping out, please e-mail us and we will put you in touch with Barbara. polymerclaypodcast@yahoo.com

Here are some photos of Bottles of Hope that were created by a group of kids Barbara’s sister organized. Aren’t they great! If they can make them, so can you, so get out your supplies and start creating!

New Episode of Polymer Clay TV Tomorrow Creating with Gold & Silver Leaf

Posted by Ilysa on 27 Sep 2007 | Tagged as: Bottles of Hope

Its hard to believe the week is almost over and its time for a new episode of Polymer Clay TV. Tomorrow a new episode will be released and we are demonstrating working with polymer clay and gold & silver leaf. I am always finding new ways to work with the thin sheets of composition leaf as it is quite versatile. You can use a lot for some bling or you can just use a little for some accents, you can embed the clay into translucent for a neat effect as well. We show how to create a neat crackle look with the clay using your pasta machine. Make sure to come back tomorrow, you won’t want to miss this episode.

This week some of our visitors were from Brazil, Turkey,Germany,France,Israel,Canada,Serbia,Portugal,United Kingdom,Australia,India, Italy and that is just to name a few of the countries besides the USA that visited our site. It is so nice to see that creative people around the world are discovering polymer clay. We would love for our listeners and viewers to share some photos of your polymer clay work. It is really nice to see what everyone else is creating.

Feel free to add a photo of yourself and some of your polymer clay artwork. We would love to see what you are creating and share it with our community.

Polymer Clay Podcast- Basic Gold and silver leaf, review of pasta machine book

Posted by Kira on 21 Sep 2007 | Tagged as: Bottles of Hope, Podcasts, surface treatments, news

Hi Everyone! We’re back in action- we filmed 12 episodes of Polymer Clay TV and Polymer Clay Classroom last weekend and had a blast. We’re doing the videos in a new format and we hope you love them. We will be showing basic gold leaf techniques next week, so don’t miss that.

LISTEN to to podcast right here! PS- Something happened to my cute little pink podcast play button, but if you click “DOWNLOAD” it will work. I’m working on it!

We reviewed a book called Clay Techniques with a Pasta Machine, by Maureen Carlson (who we interviewed in the Synergy podcast- be sure to listen to that one.)
This book is published by Design Originals- www.d-originals.com. We really like it, it is my favorite book to point people to when they want to know why they need a pasta machine. I don’t know what I did before I got mine (actually, I remember lots of failed attempts to make nice smooth flat sheets) and we highly recommend it. We will be giving a copy away to a lucky listener this month, so be sure to sign up for our newsletter or comment on the site. We enter everyone who does into our monthly contests.

Next month, we will be unveiling the first of several new elements of Polymer Clay Podcast - our Monthly Call for Creativity. We are hoping that with a little “directed inspiration” we can all challenge ourselves to be creative and learn new techniques. So each month, we will announce three things- an overall theme, a technique, and an object to focus on. For example: Theme: Ocean, Technique: Silver Leaf, Focus object: lightswitch plates. Then, you can show us your creativity by making something either for the focus group (a lightswitch plate) or the Open Call- which means you would make anything you are inspired to make, using the Ocean theme and silver leaf. We will be building a special board in our forum where you can discuss the theme, show your pictures, and vote for the People’s Choice Awards. The winners will receive a gift from us- and we will also randomly choose a winner from the folks that come over and vote. We haven’t completely “fleshed out” this idea yet, but we will be announcing our first Call on October 1 in our Newsletter and we hope that our first month is fun and inspirational for everyone.

Please consider donating Bottles of Hope or polymer clay supplies to our friend Barbara Reider for distribution at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in MA. She has been very active in getting a Bottles of Hope program going there, and we think it’s a great cause to support.

Please support our show by reviewing our podcast, either at itunes, Meefeedia, or anywhere else you pick up our podcast or videos (youtube, google, myspace, etc.) We really appreciate the kudos, thanks to everyone who has helped to increase our rankings!

Be sure to sign up for the newsletter this month, and come back next week for our Silver and Gold leaf video!
