Polymer Clay Podcast Tomorrow, Big Brother Audition & Moon Journals

Posted by Ilysa on 17 Apr 2008 | Tagged as: news

Tomorrow we have a new episode of Polymer Clay Podcast so make sure to come back and listen to that. It has been a quiet week with my husband out of town. He is in the process of fixing up his fathers house in south, FL which is a big job, to give you an idea it still had some of the original carpet and they moved into the house in 1956. Yikes!

The day after Ed left I received an e-mail saying he was one of the first 150 applicants to audition for Big Brother which is a reality show on CBS. It is our all time favorite show and Ed decided he would like to try to get on the show just for the fun of it and I told him to go for it!

If he gets on the show he will be gone for 3 months, I think he would go crazy around all the people, we live on 5 acres out in the country and we can go days without seeing anyone and I know he likes that. I would not call him a people person.LOL There probably aren’t a lot of 40 year old men applying to the show, so it should be very interesting. I will keep you posted.

Yesterday I spent the day with my niece Rachel who is 11 years old and is so smart. We may take a class together to learn how to sew a tote bag purse. A new fabric and quilting store opened in downtown Alachua and we happened upon it. I wanted to make polymer clay buttons to go with some purses. I purchased a ton of fabric and supplies because I wanted to have someone make purses to go with my buttons but it just did not work out, so I am going to learn how to do it myself.

While on this outing with my niece we also happened upon a thrift store and I purchased a copy of Moon Journals Writing, Art, and Inquiry Through Focused Nature Study by Joni Chancer & Gina Rester-Zodrow, I haven’t had much time to check it out but it looks like it is going to be very interesting. I will keep you posted.

Polymer Clay TV & Polymer Clay Classroom Tomorrow & One Year Anniversary Coming Up

Posted by Ilysa on 10 Apr 2008 | Tagged as: news

Tomorrow we have a new episode of Polymer Clay TV, the topic is making badge holders and things that you can not fire in the oven. This weeks episode is #49 which means that we have had a show every Friday for the last 49 weeks. I guess 50 will be a milestone but on June 1st 2008 it will be our one year anniversary. It is hard to believe that the last year just flew past.

I think that Kira and I have grown with the show over the past year and it has been a blast.  I would have never thought that this is what I would be doing a few years back. It has been an amazing journey and I have really enjoyed sharing it with all of you. I always thought that someday I would probably write a book but I certainly never thought that I would have a show that people would be listening to and watch ALL over the world. It is just such an amazing technological advancement and I love to check our site statistics and see that we had visitors from  the USA, Spain, Slovenia, Italy, Russia, Poland, Australia, Japan, Germany, Turkey, Israel, South Africa, China, The Netherlands and the list goes on and on. A big thank you to all of our listeners and viewers around the world!!!

One of the important things we considered when we started the show was that we wanted anyone to be able to listen or watch the show whenever they wanted to. Once the show airs you can always come back to this site and scroll down on the right hand sidebar and under categories click on podcasts or videocasts and you will be taken to all of our past shows. Polymer Clay TV & Polymer Clay Podcast will always be free to listen and watch. We also have premium paid content which is Polymer Clay Classroom and you can read more about that by clicking on the link.

Make sure to come back tomorrow to watch Polymer Clay TV, we have added some extra surprise footage for you to enjoy!

Don’t forget to sign up for our community, we will be featuring a new member every week!

This Friday we have a new episode of Polymer Clay TV, we have some footage to share from CHA, the Clay Fandango and we show you how to get started creating badge holders. If you work in an office these will be perfect for you.

I was thinking that I wanted to start some new features on the Polymer Clay Productions site.  I have recently started featuring a member of the PCAGOE every Monday. I was thinking that to get to know the community better I would like to feature someone from our Ning community once a week as well. If you haven’t joined yet you can click on the link where all the photos are on the sidebar or follow this link http://www.polymerclay.ning.com

This will be great exposure for you and it will give you a chance to get the word out about your artwork and share it with everyone as we have thousands of visitors every week from all over the world.  So what are you waiting for, all you have to do is sign up and it is free to join.

Kira and I have decided we want to give everyone a place to share Bottles of Hope that they have made with the community. We will be adding a slide show to the website where you can upload photos of Bottles of Hope you have created and we are happy to distribute them for you if you do not have a place to donate them to. These bottles are never sold they are given to cancer patients and their families. You can read more about this great program at this link, http://www.bottlesofhope.org

If you are in need of some bottles please feel free to contact us as we have some extras. polymerclaypodcast@yahoo.com

This week I wanted to share some of the work of Alissa of http://www.divadea.etsy.com

I love the series of goddesses she is creating and I wanted to share them with you. Her work is so whimsical and colorful and just fun to look at but of course you can always purchase her work at her etsy shop. Alissa also makes colorful buttons out of polymer clay that are perfect for that sweater you have been meaning to find buttons for so have a look around.

So Many Polymer Clay Books So Little Time & PCAGOE Challenge Entry

Posted by Ilysa on 27 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: news

Most of you have probably seen at least one book on polymer clay but there are so many out on the market, so how do you know which to choose? When I started working with polymer clay there weren’t any books on the subject so I just experimented and did my own thing. Now with so many books on the subject you get to see what everyone else is doing and you can draw inspiration from that.

On Polymer Clay Podcast we try to do a book, video, DVD or magazine review on each episode. We have been at it a while and we still haven’t come close to reviewing all the books and such on polymer clay that are out there. I encourage you to check out the arts & craft section when you go to the book store or library and you will be pleasantly surprised by the large variety. One of the bonuses of listening to Polymer Clay Podcast and our reviews is that almost always we have an extra copy to give away to one of our listeners or viewers. How cool is that! Make sure to sign up for the newsletter to be automatically entered to win.

Last night the UPS guy showed up with another book and to my surprise it wasn’t one that I owned so I was very excited, it was the book Polymer Clay Art and it is a huge book filled with lots of techniques, so stay tuned for our review of the book, I think it is going to be a good one.

If you are looking for a polymer clay book, you can always go to our recommendation page and we have quite a few to choose from. All of our past shows are available at any time for you to listen or watch by scrolling down on the right hand side bar of this site under categories and clicking on podcasts or videocasts. We always archive all the shows so you won’t miss a thing.

Tomorrow we have a new episode of Polymer Clay TV and we have the Fabulous Flamingo Fashion show to share with you from the Orlando Clay Fandango. I think this episode will have you laughing for sure. Enjoy!

I wanted to share my entry with you for this months PCAGOE challenge and the theme this month was eggs.
